Chartered in 1967, the Capital Area Chapter is one of 28 community-based chapters of the Pennsylvania Sports Hall of Fame.
Geographically, our chapter encompasses Harrisburg and its east shore.
The purpose of the Chapter is to recognize athletes, coaches and administrators who have brought lasting fame and recognition to the Greater Harrisburg area.
Beginning with its inaugural Class of Hall of Famers in 1967, the Chapter has immortalized 389 men and women for their accomplishments in sports.
The Chapter’s Class of 2017 has just been announced with 12 inductees. Click here for more information on the new class.
Chapter membership is open to all sports-minded individuals. With 441 members, the Capital Area Chapter ranks among the largest of the state’s 28 chapters.
Membership meetings are held on the fourth Wednesday of each month, except for July and December, at Post 730 of the Penbrook American Legion, 3813 Walnut St., Harrisburg, Pa. Due to the Thanksgiving holiday, November’s meeting always is held on the third Wednesday.
Our next dinner: Wednesday, April 26. Baseball historian Ted Knorr will be our guest speaker.
Social hour begins at 6 p.m. with dinner following at 7.
The Chapter, through its fundraisers and the generosity of its members, annually awards two college scholarships to local high school boys and girls senior athletes.
